Jessica Robles, is a Promising Student Nurse with Ventura College in Ventura, CA

Jessica Robles is a nursing student enrolled at Ventura College – California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) in Camarillo, California, where she is studying for her nursing degree. She serves as Ventura College Foundation Student Ambassador. Jessica has known that she wanted to become a nurse ever since she was seven years old. “I would get those little plastic doctor’s kits and pretend I was giving my family injections,” she stated. However, much of her inspiration came from her grandmother, who was not formally trained as a nurse, but had to be taught basic nursing skills on the job in the small Zacatecas, Mexico village where she grew up. Jessica remains a member of the National Student Nurses Association. Being the oldest of four sisters, Jessica is the first in her generation to attend college. She also considers herself a political activist, willing to spend what little free time she has manning phone banks and volunteering for candidates she believes will further the cause of social justice and the Latin community.
